A main sewer line clog in central Vermont announces itself at the lowest drain in the house. The basement floor drain backs up, the tub fills when the toilet flushes, and the kitchen sink is fine because it is upstairs. A house with no cleanout costs more every time, because the line has to be reached through a pulled toilet or a roof vent. Adding a cleanout while the line is open is the cheapest thing you can do for the next backup.
